Tim Pappa is an Incident Response Engineer - Cyber Deception Strategy, Content Development, and Marketing, on the Cyber Deception Operations team, Walmart Global Tech. Previously, he was a Supervisory Special Agent and profiler with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), where he specialized in cyber deception and online influence. Tim has spoken at and been published widely in peer-reviewed industry and academic conferences and proceedings on cyber deception and influence, including Black Hat Asia, BSides, IEEE European S&P, and NDSS. Tim is also a volunteer for DEF CON Franklin. Tim is writing the first No Starch Press book on cyber deception, "Cyber Deception: Designing and Operationalizing Influence", due out in fall 2026.
