Join us for a behind-the-scenes look into how bad actors steal payment card data right from customers at store checkout counters highlighting the need for deep collaborative efforts between industry and law enforcement. We’ll explore the inner workings of payment card skimming devices, how they can be detected, and what’s being done to stop them. Walmart’s Research Science and Hardware Intelligence team (a subdivision of our ANAB accredited crime lab), in partnership with the United States Secret Service, will showcase real skimming devices, scenarios, and defense strategies. We’ll share stories from the front lines of retail crime prevention capped off with a hypothetical end-to-end case study modelling effective defense tactics. You’ll learn how these scams impact vulnerable communities, especially those relying on SNAP and EBT benefits, and how to become part of the solution. Whether you're a concerned citizen or an impacted business, we hope this session will open your eyes to the hidden world of point-of-sale fraud and give you insight into what it takes to fight back.
